The End Proclaimed Before The Beginning

Advent Hymn: 🎼 Good Christian Men Rejoice🎶
Clergy used this medieval tune from the 14th century to teach Bible stories to uneducated peasants through music. The original manuscript was a combination of Latin and German, which made people grateful for Christ’s arrival on Earth and indicated that we have nothing to fear now that He has come to save us.
Verse 1
Good Christian men rejoice
With heart and soul and voice!
Give ye heed to what we say
News! News!
Jesus Christ is born today!
Ox and ass before Him bow
And He is in the manger now
Christ is born today!
Christ is born today!
Verse 2
Good Christian men, rejoice
With heart and soul and voice
Now ye hear of endless bliss
Joy! Joy!
Jesus Christ was born for this
He hath ope’d the heav’nly door
And man is blessed evermore
Christ was born for this
Christ was born for this
Verse 3
Good Christian men, rejoice
With heart and soul and voice
Now ye need not fear the grave:
Peace! Peace!
Jesus Christ was born to save
Calls you one and calls you all
To gain His everlasting hall
Christ was born to save
Christ was born to save
10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. ~ Luke 2:10-11

Can we predict what will happen before it occurs? Not really. Only God, who knows all things and is outside of time (which He created), knows the end before the beginning.
We can entrust ourselves to this loving God who is Lord of all time. He has a completely true story to tell us, and its impact is still reverberating today.
The End Proclaimed Before The Beginning by ems 12/05/21
The Bible’s historical record gathers humans’ stories and describes God’s interaction with them. It contains narratives, songs, poetry, prophecies, and more. Prophecy tells the end before the beginning about individuals, kingdoms, and, most importantly, Messiah, the One who would rescue us.
More than 300 Old Testament prophesies concerning the Messiah were fulfilled by Jesus Christ during His life on Earth. Those specifically dealing with His birth reflect the alignment of God’s will for humanity’s restoration.
All of us have experienced being lost at some point in our lives. Whether it was for a moment or longer, our apparent need to find our way was aided by a map, a compass, or even modern GPS. But sometimes, the best directions we can receive are from someone familiar with the trail who shows us how to reach our destination. Through the kindness of a local resident, we are soon back on track.
God loved us so much that He sent His Son to show us the way to His heart. And so as not to miss His coming, God the Father gave us signposts throughout history for which we could search with intensity.
Moses told us that the Messiah would be born of a woman (Genesis 3:15), and Isaiah 7:14 said that she would be a virgin. The prophet Nathan promised Messiah would be an heir to King David’s throne (2 Samuel 7:14). The genealogies of Jesus as listed by Matthew (1:1-17) and Luke (3:23-38) accurately show the family lines from Adam, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob through David and finally to Jesus. Zechariah reveals that the Messiah would be king and a priest (Zechariah 6:12-13). And Micah (5:2) prophesied he would be born in Bethlehem, while Hosea (11:1) tells how he would live for a season in Egypt.
These prophesies and their 3-D realities are historied in Scripture.
What does this mean? If God had given us so much information over the centuries, it must be essential for us today to know this wonderful counselor, mighty God, Everlasting Father, and prince of peace. May our hearts rejoice about our Saviour, born Christ the Lord!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, You who declares the end before the beginning, in Your mercy, you saw me and my need for rescue. Thank you for proving Your redeemer to step from eternity past into our time frame and give us a future and a hope! I love you, Abba!
