God Captures Our Tears

”A Tear Bottle From The Middle East”

God sees our tears. In compassion, He notes our trials and sufferings. God sees our wanderings and is moved by our distress. Psalm 56:8 discloses that those tears are precious to Him – He collects them and has a record of our sorrows.

“You keep track of all my sorrows (or wanderings).
You have collected all my tears in your bottle.
You have recorded each one in your book.” ~ Psalm 56:8

Your tears are valid, and God treasures them. When we face crushing circumstances, He is our refuge of protection and RESToration. Psalm 46 declares that God is present everywhere and that He knows all things:

“God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling.”   ~ Psalm 46:1-3

Above all, Who is this powerful yet personal God?

There are many descriptive names of God in the Bible. One commonly translated as “the God who sees me” is El Roi (Hebrew: אל ראי). This name displays the tender heart of God, Who is present amid our struggles. His unfathomable love reaches out to us and touches us, not only in times of need but every day He provides what is vital to enable us to thrive.

God knows you intimately because He created you and even knows your name.

 How wonderful is that?

A loving God of compassion Who sees, cares, calls out to us, and calls us to Himself!

But now, this is what the Lord says—
     he who created you, Jacob,
     he who formed you, Israel:
 “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
~ Isaiah 43:1

In this past week, my life has been touched by grief twice—two dear people left this life after a physical struggle, yet each blessed me with their kindness. All of us will face grief in this life, whether it’s the loss of a loved one, a job, or even a pet. Yet there is consolation, healing, and comfort to be found in God’s arms. He draws us in, holds us close, listens to our sobs, and calms our fears. Then, He gives us the grace to rise with renewed strength to once again continue the difficult work of grief, which will one day transform our mourning into dancing.

From the Old Testament to the New, God declares His love for us in the Bible. God calls us home and redeems our brokenness through Jesus, a perfect man who was also fully God. Jesus knew and experienced sorrow so that we could enjoy Heaven forever. He was sinless yet died in our place, taking our punishment so we could be forgiven and reconciled to God.

May you be encouraged to know that you can find peace in the storms of life because God, Who is over all, sees your tears, captures them, and calls you to Himself to comfort you.

This short film dramatically presents the love of the God Who Sees.
May you receive healing and courage to press on as you view it.
