God’s Power

Here are my gleanings (summary notes) from my current Bible study
from week 5: Knowing The Almighty
Behold Your God: The Weight of Majesty by John Snyder
12-week devotional workbook and DVD

God’s Power …

  1. …Is Essential To His Being

Power is not merely what God possesses; it is who He is.

  1. …Is Self-Existing

The origin of God’s power is found in himself. He has not received it from another. The origin of any power given on this earth
lies in God.

  1. …Is Infinite, Having No Limitation, Measure, Or Boundary

The power of God has steps that cannot be discovered and limits that will never be reached.

  1. …Is Immutable

His power is unchangeable; It cannot be depleted. God alone remains unalterably omnipotent.

  1. …Exists Above The Limits Of Time And Place

God’s power is eternal. It exists in the past, present, and future simultaneously.

  1. …Is Sovereign

He not only possesses the ability to do all he desires; He also possesses the right to do all He desires.

  1. …Is United To All His Other Attributes

God is undivided. He cannot find certain attributes at odds with others (e.g., mercy and justice).

Behold Your God: The Weight of Majesty, Daily Devotional Workbook - By: John Snyder
  1. 8. …Is Incomparable

No one can fully grasp what it means when we say our God is Almighty. He remains forever unique and in a category all to Himself.

Concluding Thought:

When you consider the biblical testimony regarding God‘s ability to do all His pleasure, you are immediately confronted with a choice:
will you lay aside all inferior views of God‘s power and make room for the truth?

It will cost you something to believe that God is Almighty; but believing is the only path for followers of Christ.
