Our loving God rules over all, for He blesses us
with seasons, days, and precious moments.
In His presence is fullness of joy, and we can be still because He is not.
He is ever working for His glory, for all people, and against all evil.
Our Sovereign God calls us by name and sings over us as we sleep.
He truly is a great and good Heavenly Father.
He has proven this over and over again, so He is worthy of our trust.
Psalm 46 tells us in verse 1 that “God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.”
Then in verses 8 through 11, we are told some of the mighty works He does on our behalf:
“8 Come, behold the works of the Lord,how he has brought desolations on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
he breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the chariots with fire.
10 “Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”
11 The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah (pause and think about that!)
As we consider the busyness of God, we can be still.
We can be at peace in the midst of the storm.
We can have a quiet calm in the center of trials.
We can live, walk, and thrive even though the mountains
fall into the heart of the sea (verse 2).
This mighty, personal Father is busy making His Fame Name known and
drawing us closer to Himself.
Nothing is outside of the power of God, so why do we fret?
May God remind us of His mighty acts of old recorded in the Bible.
As He details the specific ways He has moved in our hearts and lives,
may we return to joy and overflowing praise.
God is the Creator, but He is first and foremost our Heavenly Father,
Who daily provides for our needs, listens to the desires of our hearts
and calms our out-of-control fears.
May we yield to Abba’s invitation to turn aside and find RESToration in His loving arms.
Be still … our God is busy for us!
