30 Days of Gratitude ~ Day 13: Trust

Taste And See That The Lord Is Good

Thank God that your heart can trust in Him.

Psalm 28

Trust is built over time, yet it begins with a tiny step: believing.

An opportunity to trust can present itself daily, but the question is, will you respond, and is that person trustworthy? Sometimes, placing your trust in someone else requires examining a person’s character.

Are they kind? Have they expressed care consistently? Do others think well of this person? Is it worth investing my time, effort, and, perhaps, money in the dreams they express?

There are no guarantees … at least with people.

God, on the other hand, is always worthy of our trust. He has a proven track record throughout the ages, which can be verified by reading the eyewitness accounts in the Bible. God’s very name exudes faithfulness, for His everlasting love has been proven by His most wondrous gift: His Son.

The apostle John testifies,
“16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” ~ John 3:16-17

God’s love motivated Him to create us in loving joy that we might know Him, yet we chose to go our own way and not give Him the worship due to His Name. In the beginning of time in the Garden of Eden, Adam and his wife Eve enjoyed perfect fellowship with one another and with God until they chose to disobey and usurp God’s authority. Their choice angered and disappointed God and set a plan of redemption in motion. When we disobey God’s law, we are engulfed in the consequences of our choices. Only God can free us from the entanglement of no hope, no future, no eternity with Him.

By believing in and trusting God for our salvation (freedom from the penalty of sin, which is death), God can RESTore us to an enduring relationship with Him. He fills our hearts with joy, and with our song, we praise Him, the God of the ages who is worthy of ALL of our trust.
