Enter church with Thanksgiving and PRAISE!

“Enter His gates with a song of thanksgiving
And His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, bless and praise His name.” ~ Psalm 100:4

The regular gathering of believers in Christ is a weekly celebration of God’s goodness for what He has done for us through Jesus. We can celebrate this anytime two or more of us are together, wherever we are, as we recount how great God is and gratefully thank Him for the many blessings He has given us.

In my local church, we begin worship by singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to each other: “Sing to the Lord and make music in your heart to him,” as we are reminded to do in Ephesians 5:19.

Worship reminds us we are in God’s presence. As we sing together, we remember who God is and what He has done throughout the ages and acknowledge our moment-by-moment dependence upon Him. All of this lifts our spirits and gives us an overflowing sense of joy and thanksgiving as we recount our many blessings as followers of Jesus.

God’s righteous laws were first given to Moses on Mount Sinai. Through these, the Israelites learned how to please God. God’s specific design of the Tabernacle was also given to Moses, establishing a holy place for God to dwell among them. The Tabernacle was a mobile dwelling place of God centered in the camp of the Israelites as they traveled through the wilderness to the promised land. Years later, a permanent structure, the Temple, was built and established in Jerusalem by King Solomon. The Temple was a place where people continually sought God’s face, recited ancient words of truth, and lifted songs of thanksgiving skillfully from a collection of instruments.

When you think of God, do you begin by thanking Him for who He is and what He has done? Remembering God’s faithfulness to us and the generations before us increases our faith. We are strengthened in our resolve to move forward through difficult times as we rejoice in the triumphs and blessings we have already experienced. Even more critical is to multiply this joy by sharing it with others. King David said, “I rejoiced when they said to me, “Let us go to the House of Adonai.” ~ Psalm 122:1

Is there a local place of worship where you can attend and be encouraged regularly?
In a burning fire, coals must be close together to sustain heat. We also need one another to stand firm in our faith and proclaim how great our God is with joy and thanksgiving! Make it your aim to praise God this week with at least one other person. God will be blessed, and so will you!

Psalm 122
1 A Song of Ascents. Of David.
I rejoiced when they said to me,
“Let us go to the House of Adonai.”
2 Our feet are standing in your gates, Jerusalem—
3 Jerusalem, built as a city
joined together.
4 There the tribes go up,
the tribes of Adonai
—as a testimony to Israel—
to praise the Name of Adonai.
5 For there thrones for judgment are set up,
the thrones of the house of David.
6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem—
“May those who love you be at peace!
May 7th there be shalom within your walls—
quietness within your palaces.”
8 For the sake of my brothers and friends,
I now say: “Shalom be within you.”
9 For the sake of the House of Adonai our God,
I will seek your good.

***NOTE: This month is my spiritual birthday in Jesus.
I surrendered to the Lord 46 years ago!
Praise God for His Holy Spirit, who has enabled me
to walk consistently with Him ever since!
