Romans 5:5
Faith Brings Joy
“1Therefore, since we have been made right (JUSTIFIED!) in God’s sight by faith, we have PEACE with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us (GRACE!). 2 Because of our FAITH, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward (HOPE!) to sharing God’s GLORY.
3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 5 And this HOPE will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” ~ Romans 5:1-2
Justified. Peace. Glory. Grace. Faith. Hope.
Through faith in Jesus Christ, all of the above is ours to enjoy daily!
Justified means we are in right standing before a Holy God because Jesus took our punishment.
Peace means we have been reconciled to God, who were once enemies, and now we can have daily fellowship with Him.
Glory means a future promise that we will experience when we are in God’s presence in Heaven.
Grace means our position of forgiveness can never be taken away by any person or event.
Faith means we can believe God in His word and trust He is at work in us.
Hope means there is so much more awaiting us than this life can offer, and our inheritance in heaven will be incomparable to the difficulties, disappointments, and sufferings we have faced on this earth.
This is significant. We can celebrate because what God has done is complete, and we don’t have to add anything to what Jesus accomplished on the cross. It doesn’t matter if we feel unworthy; Christ has made us worthy to receive these gifts. Our history doesn’t disqualify us from God’s free gift of salvation. We need only respond to the prompting of the Holy Spirit to agree with God that we fall short, need His forgiveness, and accept that Jesus, who is perfect, made up for all our imperfections.
Faith in Jesus Christ brings J~O~Y!
Joy is more than a momentary lightheartedness. It’s not happiness that fades in comparison. It’s a bubbling-up assurance that what God says is true, and when I believe and obey His commands, my life is forever changed.
Have you experienced God’s forgiveness? Do you have the assurance of being in heaven with Him one day? Do you know that if you were the only person on earth, your Heavenly Father would have still sent His Son Jesus to save you from your sins?
Precious one, this is true, and God wants you to know Him, experience peace, and hope that you will be with Him forever in heaven. Choose this day to serve and know God personally through Jesus. You will find eternal satisfaction.
