Jesus is the Great I AM

In John’s Gospel, Jesus uniquely revealed who He is with seven I AM statements.
What do these life-giving statements provide, and how am I to reflect these in my life?

I AM the Bread of Life ~ John 6:35
“Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

Jesus sustains us with LIFE-GIVING SUSTENANCE which satisfies and never ends.
How am I nourishing and nurturing my own faith and the faith of others?

I AM the Light of the World ~ John 8:12
“Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

Jesus pierces our darkness with LIFE-GIVING CLARITY, which is never overcome.
How am I reflecting His Light to illuminate hope in the lives of others?

I AM the Door ~ John 10:9
Yes, I am the door (gate). Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.”

Jesus provides the only passage from death to everlasting life with secure LIFE-GIVING HOPE.
How am I embracing this victorious life so others may desire this for themselves?

I AM the Good Shepherd ~ John 10:11-14
11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep. 12 A hired hand will run when he sees a wolf coming. He will abandon the sheep because they don’t belong to him and he isn’t their shepherd. And so the wolf attacks them and scatters the flock. 13 The hired hand runs away because he’s working only for the money and doesn’t really care about the sheep.
14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me…”

Jesus willingly lays down His life to lead, provide, and protect us with LIFE-GIVING SECURITY which yields peace.
How am I following His voice in obedience, which brings blessing to others?

I AM the Resurrection and the Life ~ John 11:25-26a
25 Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. 26 Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die…”

Jesus is omnipotent over sin and death with LIFE-GIVING PURPOSE, which renews.
How am I living this transformed life that glorifies Him and reveals His good news to others?

I AM the Way and the Truth and the Life ~ John 14:6

Jesus’ sinless sacrifice directs us into truth with LIFE-GIVING RECONCILIATION with God, which gives abundant joy. ~ John 14:6
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”

How am I pursuing a holy life that manifests an intimate relationship with God and inspires others?

I AM the Vine ~ John 15:1-6
“1“I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.
“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.”

Jesus is the Creator & Sustainer with LIFE-GIVING CONNECTION, which empowers us to grow.
How am I abiding in Jesus to bless and inspire others with God’s Truth?

Through Jesus, we have LIFE-GIVING Sustenance, Clarity, Hope, Security, Purpose, Reconciliation, and Connection, which rescue our souls and restore our relationship with the Everlasting God. There is nothing greater than to know, love, glorify, and serve Christ our Creator.

John 3:16-21
16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only and unique Son, so that everyone who trusts in him may have eternal life, instead of being utterly destroyed. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but rather so that through him, the world might be saved. 18 Those who trust in him are not judged; those who do not trust have been judged already, in that they have not trusted in the one who is God’s only and unique Son.

19 “Now this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, but people loved the darkness rather than the light. Why? Because their actions were wicked. 20 For everyone who does evil things hates the light and avoids it, so that his actions won’t be exposed. 21 But everyone who does what is true comes to the light, so that all may see that his actions are accomplished through God.”

My prayer for you, dear friend, is that you would discover for yourself who Jesus is and that you would embrace Him and trust in Him that Heaven may be your true home!

PRAYing for you! 🙂
